Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort Named Australasia’s Leading Green Hotel

(Dive Travel Business News - May 21, 2012) -- FIJI --The founder of Worldwide Dive and Sail, Frank van der Linde has confirmed that the building of the S/Y Fiji Siren is ahead of schedule and that the boat will be ready by April 2013 and will begin Fiji cruises in October.

The newly built yacht will be named the and is being constructed along the lines of her sister ships with the same luxury outfit as all the other Siren Fleet yachts. At a length of 40m/130ft and a beam of 10m/33ft, she will host 16 divers in 8 a/c en-suite cabins along with providing all the Siren Fleet regular features such as camera stations, spacious dive deck, sun deck and outdoor dining can be expected.  And with a crew of 12 the S/Y Fiji Siren is set to be by far the most luxury boat in Fiji. read more »

(Dive Travel Business News - March 28, 2012) -- Just a few days away, the first Great Fiji Shark Count  will be launched. Throughout the month of April 2012,  and again in November, sharks, rays and turtles will be identified and counted over all the regions of Fiji.

Event organizers hope that tourists, school children, scientists and all people with an interest in the marine environment will take to the reefs with us to search for the Sharks of Fiji!  Easy to do, the Count itself can be done during a normal fishing, SCUBA diving or snorkel trip with a local operator or guide. Fiji Tourism Gets a Boost

Fiji Tourist Arrivals Up

(Dive Travel Business News - May 4, 2010) -- Fiji’s Bureau of Statistics’ latest report showed that a total of 4,199 U.S. passport holders visited Fiji in March, an 18.6 percent increase compared to March 2009's 3,539 total. Regional Director Ili Matatolu stated that this result showed cause for optimism for the U.S. market as it builds up its recovery from last year's challenges. She added that results for the first quarter of 2010 compared to last year also showed a 5.1 percent increase, but the real goal is to get back to 2008 levels in terms of its recovery marketing benchmarking.
