Bahamas New Carib Dancer added to Dancer Fleet in May 2012

(Dive Travel Business News - November 2, 2011) -- At the first day of the DEMA Show 2011, worldwide liveaboard company Dancer Fleet, has announced its latest dive yacht: The 100-foot custom luxury Carib Dancer will launch her maiden voyage May 12, 2012, allowing 14 divers to explore the best of the Bahamas each week out of Nassau each week.

The main cruise itinerary will visit areas such as the Exuma islands and the Exuma Land and Sea Park, the island of Eluthera, and Little San Salvador. The itinerary and exact islands visited will vary each week as the captain’s mandate is to provide guests the best possible diving based on the current conditions at that time. The islands are visually stunning and there are numerous opportunities to go ashore and snorkeling for non-divers.

Introductory prices for the all inclusive 7 night cruise starts at $1695 per person for the quad occupancy cabin and $1895 for the deluxe cabins. Airport transfers, accommodations, diving up to 5 dives a day, meals, snacks, beverages – including alcohol – are all included. read more »

(Dive Travel Business News - May 31, 2010) -- Nekton Diving Cruises ceased operations May 17, 2010. The Florida-based dive tour company operated two ultra-stable SWATH twin-hull dive boats designed for people prone to sea sickness.

The Nekton Pilot and the Nekton Rorqual, both designed to accommodate more than 30 scuba divers, offered one-week itineraries to the Bahamas and Belize.  According to the owners, the vessels proved too costly to run as reservations declined in a down economy. read more »

New Destination for Aggressor Fleet

Aggressor Fleet launches Baja Aggressor

(Dive Travel Business News - May 10, 2010) -- Aggressor Fleet is launching a new dive yacht destination offering three adventures - Great White Shark, Hammerhead Shark and Gray Whale charters - in Baja, Mexico starting July 24, 2010.  Aggressor Fleet's introductory offer is only US$1995 pp during 2010.  

From January through June, the Baja Aggressor will cruise to Revillagigedo Archipelago and famous Socorro Island where giant Manta Rays, schooling Hammerhead sharks and Silver Tip Sharks are the key attractions.

The yacht moves to Guadalupe Island from mid-July to mid-November where Great White Shark diving is done solely from large shark cages. Three cages accommodate 3-4 divers each, with dives at a depth of 5-20 feet.

Red Sea Liveaboard Destroyed in Blaze

(Dive Magazine UK - February 1, 2010) -- Dive Magazine reports that the Red Sea Live-aboard MY Typhoon has been destroyed by a fire in a Suez dry dock. Typhoon was part of the Tornado Marine Fleet operating in Egyptian waters. Three other live-aboards sustained damage:  MY Sweet Dreams, Hyatt and VIP-One.  Travel Professionals are busy making alternate arrangements for clients who were booked on these boats.

Windjammer Barefoot Cruises Appears to have Folded

(April 14, 2008 - Modern Agent) -–Windjammer Barefoot Cruises, which hasn’t operated a ship since last August, has apparently closed its Miami offices. The troubled company, which let lapse its Florida license to sell travel in November, was unsuccessful in its attempts to renew that registration, said Terence McElroy, spokesman for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. “Because of their financial difficulties, we insisted they post a $50,000 bond, which they didn’t have to do before,” McElroy said. “They were unable or unwilling to post the bond, so we rejected their request to renew the license. At that point, they were no longer licensed to sell travel in Florida.” read more »
