(Dive Travel Business News.com - September 11, 2012) -- Former President of Marine Art Center Ltd. in Japan, and an esteemed member of the Scuba Diving Hall of Fame, Akira Tateishi passed away on September 9, 2012 at the age of 82 from cancer.

Mr. Tateishi was Editor/Publisher of several magazines and a leader in the diving community of Japan. For more than four decades, Akira Tateishi has helped focus Japanese and international attention on underwater photography through movies, television, magazines, and newspapers.

Akira Tateishi was born in Chiba, Japan, in 1930.  He began scuba diving in 1956 in search for new subjects for his painting work. To capture what he saw underwater, Tateishi designed and built an underwater camera housing. This allowed him to bring back images of underwater scenes, so he could paint them. read more »

Dive Travel Business News - June 6, 2012) -- COZUMEL, MEXICO -- Mexicandiver Magazine recently celebrated its second anniversary of publication with the Cozumel Digital Fiesta 2012. The event was held at the popular Casa Del Mar Resort on Cozumel.

At this event, divers from across the United Sates engaged in cave diving, reef diving, underwater photography workshops and a friendly photo competition and prizes. Professional photographer, Phil Rudin provided a macro and wide angle presentation that included lens and equipment reviews. Dr. Dario Gomez and Laura Johnson, representatives of Divers Alert Network (DAN) provided a Hazardous Marine Life Injuries and Local Diving Accidents Statistics presentation.
