(Dive Travel Business News - March 29, 2010) -- The Women Divers Hall of Fame (WDHOF) recently celebrated its 10th anniversary with a weekend of events at Beneath the Sea, America's largest consumer scuba and dive travel show. VIP receptions, an Awards Banquet, special presentations and a Sunday Brunch were just some of the activities for WDHOF members and associate members during the Beneath The Sea show held March 25 - 27, 2010 at the Meadowlands Convention Center in Secaucus, New Jersey. 

Ten outstanding women were inducted into the Hall of Fame as part of the 10th anniversary festivities. They are:

  • Jane Bowman, advanced cave diver, trainer & examiner, tech diver;
  • Annie Crawley, filmmaker, motivational speaker, photographer and writer;
  • Sheri Daye, accomplished scuba diver, freediver and spearfisher;
  • Joan Forsberg shipwreck diver & researcher; underwater archaeologist;
  • Deb Greenhalgh, undersea engineer, instructor, author;
  • Anne Davis Hasson, co-founder of the Aggressor Fleet;
  • Diane Scullion Littler, Ph.D., research associate & senior scientist; authority on tropical-marine botany;
  • Chief Petty Officer Roseanne Oliveros, US Navy underwater construction technician (SeaBee) diver;
  • Faith Ortins, developed the first women’s drysuits, leads DUI’s sales team worldwide;
  • Leslie Rochat, founder of AfriOceans Conservation Alliance, established the SOS Shark Centre, documentary producer and environmental journalist.
A Women Divers Hall of Fame limited edition 116-page 4-color commemorative book was introduced at the Beneath the Sea show with proceeds being donated to WDHOF's extensive scholarship and training grant program. The book is available for US$25 on the WDHOF website.

The Women Divers Hall of Fame™ (WDHOF) is an international
non-profit professional honor society whose member contributions span a wide variety of fields including: The Arts, Science, Medicine, Sports, Exploration, Marine Archeology, Media, Service, Dive Training and Education, Safety, Business, Marine Environment and Conservation, Free Diving, Commercial Diving, and Military Diving.
