Sea and See'ing Mauritius

(Dive Travel Business - June 21, 2010) -- Known as the "Pearl of the Indian Ocean," Mauritius has been an elite island getaway for many decades. With a perfect year-round climate, Mauritius entices travelers with talcum-soft sands, crystalline waters, stunning coral reefs, world-class diving, big game fishing, fields of purple litchi fruit, rum and tea plantations. Mauritius is an officially English-speaking former Dutch, French and British colony that attracts primarily European sun-seekers. As Africa's farthest-flung nation, it is a speck of volcanic rock with a few smaller offshore islands and shoals, more than 1,200 miles east of the African mainland.
The New York Times has a great article on topside and underwater adventures in Mauritius, along with a Mauritius Travel Guide. While not a definitive resource, it provides an excellent overview of what to expect in Mauritius. Visit the New York Times. Also visit this excellent resource on Mauritius Diving.
