(Dive Travel Business News - May 11, 2010 ) --  Dive Travel Specialists take note: The world's leading online travel agency Expedia has recognized the value of providing eco-friendly hotel offerings to travelers who prioritize environmental sustainability and want to travel in a socially responsible manner.

Launched in April of 2008, Expedia's Green Hotel program is now six times larger than last year, featuring more than 1,700 supply partners and over 80 green certification programs.  These hotels are certified by a cross-section of organizations, including Green Seal, Green Key, LEEDS and STEP.

In addition to its Green Hotels program, Expedia.com offers carbon offset options for flights through its partnership with TerraPass. Travelers can add a TerraPass to their flight based on distance flown, to fund clean energy and carbon reduction projects. Expedia also offers environmental travel tips to its clients with their Travelers Guide to Going Green.
