DEMA Invites the Industry to Participate in the Water, Sports & Travel Festival

(Dive Travel Business News - August 8, 2012) -- The 1st Water, Sports and Travel Festival will be held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from April 26-28, 2013. The Festival will be open to the public and is part of the Diving Equipment & Marketing Association's (DEMA) continuing effort to help grow the recreational diving industry. This annual event aims to accomplish this by cross-marketing to people with active lifestyles similar to the most active diving customer.
DEMA has been cross-marketing recreational scuba diving to non-diving consumers since 2000 when DEMA's Be A Diver Pool Tour (formerly "The Scuba Tour") began traversing the country to attend non-diving consumer shows and provide attendees with the opportunity to try diving. The Water, Sports and Travel Festival continues this effort to cross-market our sport to non-divers whose interests are proven to include other activities that will also be featured at the Festival. WST Fest and its affiliated week-long series of events provides the opportunity for the industry to attract tens of thousands of non-divers and divers alike to explore equipment, travel and educational opportunities.
The Festival partners DEMA with Broward County and the Greater Ft. Lauderdale/Broward Convention Center as well as dozens of water sports, travel and tourism organizations from around the world. Events will include a major exhibition, seminars, demonstrations, competitions, music events, culinary demonstrations and competitions as well as special dive trips scheduled around the Festival.
DEMA has partnered with MSE Management, a show management company with over 35 years of experience, to manage the Festival. MSE has produced more than 750 shows, including numerous active lifestyle shows similar to the Festival. They currently produce several shows including The New York Times Travel Show, which is the largest annual travel trade and consumer show in North America.MSE is well versed in the goals of the Festival, and is experienced in using the cross-marketing techniques needed to help increase visibility for and participation in recreational diving.
